Ensure you are logged into Cogniti.
In the left menu, click the agent icon.
In the top right hand of the screen that appears, click Create agent. If this button is disabled, you may not have sufficient permissions to create agents, or you may have reached your agent creation limit. Contact an organisational or Cogniti administrator to address this.
A panel will appear.
Give the agent a name – this is not visible to students who chat with the agent.
The short description is also not visible to students who chat with the agent, but it can help you find your agent down the track.
The System message is the main way that you will steer your agent. You can keep tweaking this as you experiment with your agent. Check out some recommended approaches to designing a good system message.
The Information for users box is optional, and will be displayed to students when they open a chat with the agent.
The Temperature controls how creative the agent is. Use the slider to adjust this. A typical setting is 0.7. A lower temperature will make the agent more predictable and more specific, whilst a higher temperature will make it more creative.
Here is an example of an agent’s basic configuration:
Click Save agent.
Your basic agent is now set up and appears in the list of agents available to you. It will be highlighted in blue.
You can start to chat with the agent or configure it further (recommended). In particular, you may want to set the AI engine for the agent.
