Once you create an agent in Cogniti, you can embed this in a Canvas page to make it easier and more seamless for students to use your agent. This way, they don’t need to create an account, and can use your agents right where they are engaging with learning.
Note: To embed Cogniti into Canvas, your Canvas administrator will need to have added it as an LTI plugin. Ask them to get in touch with us to do so.
Create an agent #
You’ll need to have a Cogniti agent created first.
Different embedding approaches #
Depending on how your Canvas administrator has set up Cogniti, you might be able to embed Cogniti assets in a number of different ways.
Embed it into a Canvas page #
Create or edit a Canvas page.
In the rich content editor, click the plugin icon. Choose Cogniti from the dropdown list:

If Cogniti does not appear here, click View All and then select Cogniti from the list.
A dialog with a list of agents will appear. You can search for the agent you need. Locate the agent, and then click Select this agent.

The agent will then be embedded in your Canvas page. Click Save in Canvas to save the page.

Embed as a module item #
This is only available if ‘deep linking’ has been configured by your Canvas administrator.
Add a new item to a module.
Choose External Tool and find Cogniti in the list. Click on it.

A dialog with a list of agents will appear. Find the agent you wish to embed, and click Select this agent.

Back in the Canvas dialog, click Add Item to complete the process.

The Cogniti asset will be linked as an external tool link. You can choose to edit the link and open it in a new tab if desired.
